the Group for of New Energy Storage Battery and Key Materials in Chemistry College of Xiangtan University


Aiming at the urgent demands of development in industries of energy storage batteries and electric vehicles, the Group for of New Energy Storage Battery and Key Materials in Chemistry College of Xiangtan University has been devoting themselves to develop new energy storage battery and advanced energy materials with large applied prospect. Supported by National Base for International Science & Technology Cooperation, National Local Joint Engineering Laboratory for Key Materials of New Energy Storage Battery and Hunan Province Key Laboratory of Electrochemical Energy Storage & Conversion, our group carried out numerous innovative researches from key energy storage materials to energy storage devices. And a series of achievements have been acquired in research areas of high power lithium-ion battery, Li-sulfur battery, supercapacitor and fuel cell as well as their advanced energy storage materials.

The group headed by Professor Xianyou Wang and the key members including Professor Li Liu, Professor Qi Cao, Associate Professor Hongbo Shu, Associate Professor Lanhua Yi, Associate Professor Xiukang Yang, Senior Experimenter Hai Hu, Doctor Zhigao Luo,etc. During recent years, the group takes on a lot of science and technology projects from national and local government,e.g., National Key Scientific and Technological Projects, National Science Foundation Projects, research projects of Science and Technology Committee of Central Military Commission, fundamental research projects of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense, projects of strategic emerging industries in Hunan Province, projects of transformation of important scientific and technological achievements in Hunan Province, etc. More than 360 high-level academic papers have been published, including more than 320 SCI papers, and 10 of them are listed in the top 1% of ESI; 27 national invention patents have been obtained; 《Lithium-ion battery》--China's first book on lithium-ion batteries has been published. The group has trained many outstanding doctors and masters for China’s new energy field, one of PhD theses and six of master theses wined excellence awards in Hunan Province.

The team has achieved fruitful results in industry-university-research cooperation. It won the 12th China Invention Patent Excellence Award, the second prize of Hunan Technical Invention, the Promotion Award of China's Industry-University-Research Cooperation, and the second prize of Hunan Scientific and Technological Progress Award. It has developed a new type of lithium ion battery integrated system and lithium iron phosphate lithium-ion energy storage battery, a series of advanced energy storage materials and devices with the cooperation of ZTE, Zhejiang Baicheng, Hunan Huitong, Hunan Soundon New Energy Company and so on, which have played a good demonstration and leading role in the field of promoting the development of lithium ion power battery and its key materials in China. Among them, the lithium iron phosphate lithium-ion power battery jointly developed with Zhejiang Baicheng has made a significant breakthrough in power density and continuous mileage. It was admitted to the Guinness World Records in 2015 after being tested in the international EV experimental field of Australian.

Professor Wang Xianyou, the team leader, is currently the Dean of the Graduate School of Xiangtan University. He is the Hunan Province second grade professors and doctoral supervisors. He is the evaluation expert for the national key research and development projects, the international cooperation project evaluation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and enjoying special allowances from the State Council. He was honored as the Scientific Chinese (2016) person of the year, the first Hunan advanced science and technology worker, the first leading talent of science and technology in Xiangtan City, and the leading talent of science and technology innovation in Changsha city. The h-index of his published article was as high as 43. Since the Elsevier Publishing Group launched the highly cited Chinese scholar in 2014, he has been continuous awarded a highly cited Chinese scholar in the energy field.
