       Deng Guojun focuses his research on green methodologies in organic synthesis. He has published more than 210 SCI papers on Science, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Org. Lett and so on. His papers have been cited more than 6000 times, 12 of which have been selected as ESI Highly Cited Papers. He received 21 Chinese invention patents applications, and 11 granted invention patents. He was also second prize winner of the Hunan Natural Science Award, and winner of the Hunan Youth and Technology Award, and the Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award.

In March 2021, he served as the member of the CPC Xiangtan University Committee, and head of the Organization Department.
