Natural Sciences Research Achievements of Xiangtan University

Since the 12th Five-Year Plan Period (2011–2015), XTU’s scientific and technological research has jumped to a new level, making numerous major breakthroughs and high-level achievements.

Science and Technology Awards

During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan Period (2011–2015), XTU has been granted with 87 science and technology awards of all kinds, including 2 offered by the Ministry of Education, 58 by provincial authorities, 22 at prefectural level, and 5 at other levels.
XTU has won 58 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards for the projects that were presided over by the university as the independent or primary implementer. There were 24 Natural Science Awards, 7 for Technological Invention, 12 for Technology Advancement, 3 Patent Awards, and 14 other science and technology awards.

Intellectual Property

During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period (2011 – 2015), XTU has applied for 3,144 intellectual properties of various types, including 2,233 patents for invention, 568 for utility models and outlook designs, 297 for software registration, and 46 for integrated circuit layout protection. One thousand four hundred and ninty-five authorized intellectual property applications have been approved, including 786 patents for invention, 374 for utility models and outlook designs, 289 for software registration, 46 for integrated circuit layout protection, and 3 PCT patents.  

Research Papers

From 2011 to 2015, XTU published 6,188 papers of science and technology as the first author. Among them, 3,347 has been collected on SICE, 2,831 on EI, 1,422 on CSCD, and 195 on CPCI-S. The citation frequency of its SCIE-indexed papers ranked about 75th nationwide, and the number of its highly cited papers included by ESI ranked about 50th throughout the country.
