XTU Inked Cooperation Agreement with University of Missouri-St.Louis and University of Oregon

At the invitation of University of Missouri-St.Louis and University of Oregon, six-membered Xiangtan University delegation headed by its university-level supervisor and chairman of labor union Huang Jianxin paid a visit to America in January. During their stay there, the delegates visited University of Missouri-St.Louis and University of Oregon to conduct intensive exchange in intercollegiate cooperation. XTU inked friendly cooperation agreement with the two above-mentioned schools, which expanded international exchange and cooperation with American universities.

From January 28 to 29, in University of Missouri-St.Louis, the delegation were warmly received by its President Thomas F. George, Vice President Glen Hahn Cope, and chiefs of College of Arts and Sciences, International Exchange and Research Center, Department of Materials Physics and Department of Astrophysics. Both parties held meetings on five occasions, visited Center for Nanoscience, Center for Neurodynamics, and Astronomy Teaching & Experiment Center, and discussed such issues as Chinese-Foreign cooperation in running schools, exchange enrolled students, exchange visits of faculty and scientific cooperation. Prof. Zhong Jianxin, Chang Jiang Scholar and dean of School of Materials, Optoelectronics and Physics, and Prof. Li Aigen, one of the first batch especially-invited overseas senior experts introduced by “Hundred Talents Program” explored into cooperation and exchange in physics. Prof. Huang signed a cooperation agreement with University of Missouri-St.Louis on behalf of Xiangtan University. Afterwards, President Thomas F. George entertained the delegates to a family dinner.

During the stay in the USA, Xiangtan University delegates also visited University of Oregon and engaged in talks with its Vice President Dennis C. Galvan. After in-depth exchange and negotiation, the two sides reached consensus on exchange visits of teachers, researchers and students as well as scientific cooperation. Prof. Huang sealed a cooperation agreement with University of Oregon on behalf of Xiangtan University.

The visit, intended to further deepen cooperation and exchange with American universities, marked another significant friendly contact with American institutions of higher learning. It pushed forward the building of overseas teacher training base and promoted internationalization of the subjects of physics and nanoscience.
