Four Professors from XTU Were Selected for New Century　Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of

A few days ago, the Ministry of Education announced the list of winners supported by Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (NCET) in 2008. Professor Luo Wenbo from School of Civil Engineering & Mechanics, Professor Yu Zuguo from School of Mathematics and Computational Science, Professor Wang Jinbin from School of Material and Phoelectronic Physics and Professor Hu Xiaohua from School of Law and Intellectual Property Rights were listed in the Program. In 2008, a total of 13 people from universities under the administration of Hunan Government were supported by this program, and XTU ranks the first in terms of the number of people being successfully selected. Since 2002, we’ve had 2 people selected for the Trans-Century Excellent Talents Program of the Ministry of Education, and 14 people selected for the New Century Excellent Talents in University Program.

The Supporting Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University (NCET) is the second level of the Ministry of Education’s High-level Creative Talent Development Project. NCET aims to cultivate and support a batch of excellent discipline leaders, who have solid academic foundation and outstanding creativity and potential. Every year, the Ministry of Education will select about 1000 excellent young leaders of different disciplines in natural science and humanities and social science. In three years’ time, each person in the disciplines of natural science will be granted 500,000 RMB, and each person in the disciplines of humanities and social science will be granted 200,000 RMB. And some of them will be sent abroad to engage in high-level cooperation and research by this program.
