Prof. Huang Yunqing’s Research Group Wins the First Grade of Natural Science Award on 2008 Science a

Recently, we received a piece of good news from Science & Technology Development Center, Ministry of Education that Theory and Application of Multilayer Iterative Algorithm declared by three professors (Huang Yunqing, Shu Shi and Chen Yanping) of our university won the First Grade of Natural Science Award on 2008 Science and Technology Award, MOE, China.

The Excellent Achievements Award for Science and Technology in College shall be conferred on scientific workers and units that make outstanding contributions to science discovery, technology invention and science & technology development. It is also the recognition from Ministry of Education for those scientific workers dealing with the research for many years, which includes Natural Science Award, Technological Invention Award, Science and Technology Advancement Award, Science and Technology Advancement Award (Popularization) and Patent Award. Natural Science Award shall be conferred on those collectives or individuals whose research into the phenomena, characteristics or laws of nature have produced results with great significance for scientific and technological development. Technological Invention Award shall be awarded for pioneering scientific technology achievements through making use of natural regulation. Science and Technology Advancement Award shall be conferred on citizens or organizations that make outstanding contributions in the application technology of natural science. Patent Award shall be awarded for science and technology research findings that gains notable benefits by the implementing technical patent. All universities in China have the opportunity to win Science and Technology Award, which is awarded once a year.

The 2008 Excellent Achievements Award for Science and Technology in College has already been promulgated, including 97 Prizes for Natural Sciences (43 First Grade Prizes), 34 Prizes of Technological Invention (13 First Grade Prizes), 145 Prizes of Science and Technology Progress (58 First Grade Prizes), 10 Prizes of Science and Technology Progress (Popularization) (two First Grade Prizes), 3 Patent Prizes (one First Grade Prize).

Among the First Grade of Natural Science Award on 2008 Science and Technology Award awarded in 2008, seven local universities won the First Grade Prize, and another two First Grade Prizes fell into the field of mathematics.
