Dean of School of Art Professor Zhou Xiaoyu’s Honorable Return from His European Investigation and C

After the recommendation of China Artists Association, the selection of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the final decision of the President’s meeting, Professor Zhou Xiaoyu, Dean of School of Art of our university, paid an art investigation and cooperation visit to Britain and France for nearly three months. He successfully finished the visit and returned with honor on March 30th.

During the visit, Dean Zhou held “Exhibition of Zhou Xiaoyu’s Oil Paintings” with the theme of “Human and Nature” in Paris International Art City under the cooperation of China Xiangtan University and France Paris International Art City, which won high appraisals from many foreign artists and media. Under the headline of Human and Nature--- Exhibition of Zhou Xiaoyu’s Oil Paintings in the column of France-China World, Chinese News reported: “Professor Zhou Xiaoyu, Dean of School of Art of Xiangtan University, held his oil paintings exhibition in Paris International Art City during the Spring Festival period. … Many French friends love the lyric and dreaming feelings in his works. There’s a unique style in his realistic paintings. ” Dean Zhou also visited many world famous art museums like Louvre Museum, Museum d'Orsay, Centre Pompidou, Picasso Museum, Rodin Museum, Dali Museum, Monet Museum, Maillol Museum, British Museum and The National Gallery, etc. and collected lots of art references on painting, sculpture, architecture, etc.

In order to further develop the communication and cooperation between our university and the French universities, Dean Zhou Xiaoyu visited four colleges: French Paris Superior Art College, The Glasgow School of Art in Britain, Duncan College of Art and Design and Paz Art College. He was also invited to lecture on special academic topics in the four colleges. All the colleges expressed their hope for the extensive development of multi-level contact and communication, and mutual acknowledgements in many aspects had been reached. With the efforts of Dean Zhou Xiaoyu, the committee of “Second China (Xiangtan) Qi Baishi Culture Art Festival” successfully invited the Chairman of Paris International Art City and the Deans of many colleges to attend the festival, and the culture and art communication and cooperation are further strengthened.
