Our University’s New Progress in Foreign Students’ Education

Ten students from Youngsan University of Republic of Korea finished their one month’s study in our university and successfully returned to their university lately. During their study period, the students attended the classes of Basic Chinese, Business Chinese, Chinese Culture, etc. They also visited the red revolutionary spots, factories and enterprises like Shaoshan, Xiangxiang Aluminum Factory, etc. All the students expressed their deep impression of Xiangtan University, their fruitful study in the month and their hope for the future visits. Short-term Chinese Education Program of Youngsan University was sponsored by the Government of Republic of Korea and held by our university and Youngsan University together. It’s a new action in foreign students’ education of our university.

In addition, our university also developed exchange student projects with Youngsan University, Chung-Ang University, Cheju National University in Republic of Korea and Kagoshima University, Seisen University in Japan. Our university sent fourteen exchange students to the above universities this year and took over eight exchange students at the same time.

The number of long-term foreign students of our university this year also increased compared to last year. In addition to the foreign students in our university last semester, the university enrolled six exchange students and one language student from Japan and Republic of Korea, two language students from USA, eight postgraduates and one undergraduate from Ghana this semester. These new students will enroll and begin their study in recent days. So far the foreign students’ education of our university has stepped to a new stage. In addition to exchange students and language advancement students’ education, we also have undergraduate and postgraduate education and the education levels are complete. The scope of foreign students’ education is to be expanded although it is constrained by the location and other factors. Our university has got equivalent education level compared to other key universities and generally realized the goal of “Elevate Education Level” put forward by Ministry of Education.
