Professor Zhong Jianxin Appointed as “Cheung Kong Scholar” Professorship by Ministry of Education

On March 28th, 2007, 2006’ Appointment Ceremony of Specially-hired Professor and Guest Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Programme and Achievement Award Ceremony of Cheung Kong Scholars of Ministry of Education were held in Great Hall of the People in Beijing. State Councilor Chen Zhili attended the meeting. In the meeting, Professor Zhong Jianxin of our university was appointed as Specially-hired Professor of Cheung Kong Scholars Programme, which was an important breakthrough in teachers’ construction of our university.

Professor Zhong Jianxin was appointed as Professor as a special case in 1992. He won Doctoral Degree in France in 1995. Before this appoitment, Professor Zhong was Specially-hired Professor of Furong Scholar Programme of our university. In recent years, Professor Zhong published more than seventy academic papers in top-ranking international academic journals, including one paper in Nano Letters, three papers in Phys. Rev. Lett., forty-nine SCI papers and thirty EI papers. His papers had been quoted for more than two hundred and eighty times in SCI papers. Professor Zhong also won many province or ministry level scientific awards from the country and Ministry of Education. He won Third-class Science Progressive Award of National Education Committee in 1992 and was selected as experts enjoying special government allowance from the State Council in 1995. He was also selected in National Programme of Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents in 1996.

Cheung Kong Scholars Programme is a High-level Talents Project jointly carried out by Ministry of Education and Hongkong Li Jiacheng Foundation, including the position system of Specially-hired Professor, Guest Professor and Achievement Award of Cheung Kong Scholars Programme. In 2006, one hundred and three people were appointed as Specially-hired Professor, ninety-nine people as Guest Professor in Cheung Kong Scholars Programme in the country. Only six professors of our province were appointed.
