Delegation from Cheju National University of Republic of Korea Visited Our University

President Luo He’an and Vice President Huang Yunqing met two Korea guests in the meeting room of the Abroad Students’ Building on April 10. Ms. Jing Jilie, Dean of Teaching Affairs Office and Director of International Exchange Institute of Cheju National University, is one of the two guests.
On the behalf of Xiangtan University, President Luo He’an signed alliance contracts on student cultivation of the two universities. These were two additional sub-contracts of the interuniversity academic exchange contract signed between the two universities last November. According to the contracts, the two universities will ally to cultivate undergraduates and postgraduates (include master and doctor students). Each party can send 3 free exchange students to the other party each year. Therefore, Cheju National University became the first Korean university that signed alliance contracts on student cultivation with our university. It is also the first abroad university that signed alliance contracts on postgraduate cultivation with our university.
Relative staffs from Department of International Exchange, Teaching Affairs Office, Postgraduate Department and School of International Education attended the meeting. The two parties had a hot discussion and came to a common understanding on alliance cultivation mode, major, time, expense and the procedures of exchange students. The two universities will began the alliance project among foreign languages majors (English, German and French), Chinese majors and Tourism Management majors from the spring of 2007.
Ms. Jin Jilie expressed her thanks to the warm hospitality and admired the facilities and academic reputation of our university. She said that Cheju National University attached special importance to the exchange and cooperation with Xiangtan University. She also invited the leaders of our university to revisit Cheju National University for detailed alliance contracts.
