On July 10, the 1st Academic Committee’s Conference for the Ministry of Education’s Key Lab on Advanced Materials and Their Rheological Behaviour was convened in our university.
President Peng Guopu and Shen Jiyun, associate director of the Provincial Education Department, , attended the conference and gave their congratulations and addresses. Among other attendees, there are 14 committee members, including the director of the lab’s Academic Committee, Academician Xue Qunji (CAS-LICP, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical-Physics, Chinese Academy of Science), the lab’s associate director, Professor Ding Wenjiang (director of STCSM, Science and Technology Committee of Shanghai Municipal Government), and Professor Zhou Yichun (Xiangtan University), as well as some researchers of the lab.
Presided by Academician Xue Qunji, the conference received Professor Zhou Yichun’s report to the Academic Committee, which is a survey of the lab’s work in the previous year, as well as reports by Professor Wang Xianyou and other 4 academic leaders on the progressions made in various research fields. The Academic Committee also examined the lab’s first batch of 8 open projects. During the conference, the committee members visited the campus of Xiangtan University and the lab. Presided by Professor Ding Wenjiang, they also had a hot discussion on the lab’s development and gave many valuable suggestions.
The research objects of the Ministry of Education’s Key Lab on Advanced Materials and Their Rheological Behaviour in Xiangtan University are structural, functional and intelligent advanced materials with significant applications, especially rheological materials. The materials’ preparation, rheological behaviour and application are being studied. The lab has made great achievements on scientific research, staff cultivation, lab construction and academic exchange in the first year after its foundation. This conference of the Academic Committee will greatly accelerate the lab’s further development.
