Satisfactory Achievements in the 10th Degree Program Application

The Tenth Discipline and Specialty List of Doctor and Master Degrees were authorized in the 22nd conference of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. 8 doctor programs, 16 first-level master disciplines and 6 master programs of our university were approved.
The eight doctor programs are: History of Law, Chinese Communist Party History, Marxism's Chinesization Research, Comparative Literature and World Literature, Applied Mathematics, Organic Chemistry, Material, Administrative Management.
The sixteen first-level master disciplines are: Psychology, Theoretical Economics, Applied Economics, Law, Marxism Theory, Chinese Language and Literature, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Machinery Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Computer Science & Technology, Chemical Engineering &Technology, Management Science & Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration.
The six master programs are: Japanese Language and Literature, Communication Studies, Solid Mechanics, Environmental Science, Informatics, Archival Studies.
Up till now, our university offers 17 doctor programs with coverage of seven discipline sections and thirteen first-level disciplines. The number of first-level master disciplines has reached 19(including three actual first-level disciplines: News Communication, Environmental Science & Engineering, Library, Information &Archive Management). Master programs have been up to 115, covering eight discipline sections.
The achievements made in the 10th Degree Programs Application have laid a solid foundation on our university's road to a high level key university. At present, the university has converted to focus on programs construction rather than application, and strengthen the current doctor and master programs’ construction, especially those advantageous disciplines and degrees with special features. The university aims at the zero breakthrough of first-level doctor discipline and more doctor programs next time.
In order to realize this goal, the university leaders, with other department leaders such as Department of Graduate Students, Personnel Department, Science & Technology Department and Society & Science Department, went to the schools of the university for intensive investigation. The Party Committee has confirmed some key disciplines for the 11th Degree Site Application and made a feasible construction plan sponsored with considerable fund. The university will take periodic examinations of the construction of key discipline programs. Those programs and disciplines are expected to make full use of the funds in program construction, strengthen program construction for substantial results and make more contributions for the construction of a high level key university of our university.
