At the invitation of School of Arts, the Discreet Expert Team from Beijing gave a specialized lecture on the Combination of 3D Arts and Skills at the Report Hall of Yifu Teaching Building in the afternoon on June 7. Li Qing, the Dean Assistant and other related leaders of the school also attended the lecture.
Mr. Zhang Yang, the chief engineer and technical counselor of Discreet's Chinese Headquarters, presided the lecture and introduced the current situation of visual design and creation education and some of the special settings for 3ds Max. During the lecture, experts presented a live show of designing and creating hair and cloth with 3ds Max and Combustion. They also systematically elaborated on the learning, operation and other related information of CG arts. The experts’ fantastic presentation and professional attitude won the warm applause from the attendants. Everyone’s in high spirits by the smart quiz with gifts for winners. Admiring the splendid show of 3d special slides, the audience was in a passionate atmosphere with one climax after another.
As the media and entertainment branch of the well-known automatic software provider – Autodesk, Discreet has always been the pioneer of digital products design, management and publicizing tool, and is famous in the computer field for its superb visual effect creation. The 3ds Max software developed by Discreet was designated as the only testing software for the 3d part of National Computer Graphics and Images Application Skills Rank Certificate by Ministry of Education. In order to improve the 3d teaching in our university and cultivate practical talents with graphics and images skills, it is an urgent necessity to introduce Discreet's testing and certification system. This is also the practical significance of the lecture.
The lecture attracted about 400 students of Xiangtan University, who were majoring in advertisement, industrial design, information engineering, computer science, etc. Experienced the visionary digital world, they would no doubt have a better understanding of the technical scope and development of 3d arts.
