Professor Zhou Xiaoyu, A Famous Oilcolous Painter, was Employed as Dean of School of Arts

On the afternoon of June.20, Professor Zhou Xiaoyu, a famous oilcolous painter in Hunan Province, was officially employed to be the dean of School of Arts in our university. With warm applause from the faculty of School of Arts, the Vice President Chen Xiaoming issued the Engagement Letter to Mr.Zhou.
Zhou Xiaoyu, male, was born in Xiangtan Hunan in 1944. He was one of the member of the Gallery of Art Creation of National Ministry of Culture, an expert making particular contributions to the society and getting Government Special Allowance, the member of Chinese Artist Association and a paintist specially engaged by Hunan Painting Research Institute. He is also one of the ten great competent painters in our province. Professor Zhou has won the Silver Medal of “Group Stars Award” from the National Ministry of Culture, the provincial “Five Ones Project Award”, two Silver Medals of provincial art exhibition and two Gold Medals Art Competition of Global Chinese. In addition, he was awarded the title of “Artist of ‘Great virtues and Art Talents’ in Hunan Province”. Talking about the inauguration, Professor Zhou Xiaoyu expressed that School of Arts would be certainly well developed with the support of Xiangtan University, the key multidisciplinary one. At the same time, he had full confidence in the steady development of School of Arts.
Professor Zhou was fond of painting and calligraphy for over 40 years since his boyhood. His works has been selected by national important art exhibition for several times with high reputations. For example, his work Fertile Soil ? Morning Twilight won the Silver Medal of the 8th “Group Stars Award”, and the Hill Girl won the international honor Gold Medal of the 2nd “Art Competition for Global Chinese”,etc. His academic works of personal theory were published in the national and professional newspapers and magazines. Furthermore, Professor Zhou has held some exhibitions and auctions of personal paintings for several times both at home and abroad. Professor Zhou’s personal art achievements were reported in special releases by lots of media, such as Art, Culture Times, Chinese Culture Newspaper, Hunan Daily CCTV and Hunan Satellite TV Station, etc.
