On October 31, the Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Affairs Office of Xiangtan University, together with the Taiwan Affairs Office and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the CPC Xiangtan Municipal Committee, organized Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan teachers and students to take a cultural tour to Qi Baishi’s hometown.
The event aimed to spread traditional Chinese culture, so that Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan young students in Xiangtan can feel the profound culture of the motherland, and to enhance their cultural identity and national pride.
Teachers and students visited the Xiangtan Museum, Xiangtan Planning Exhibition Hall, Longfeng Manor’s Modern Agriculture Garden, and Qi Baishi's Residence. They also learned the techniques of copying Qi Baishi’s shrimp painting at the Baishi Middle School, to experience the charm of Master Qi's painting art.
Through the visit and study, the students felt the historical and cultural heritage of Xiangtan, and experienced the tremendous development and changes in mainland China. They said they would study hard and actively participate in building the motherland.
