XTU Student Won CMC First Prize

The final of the 12thChinese Mathematics Competitions(CMC)was held at Jilin University on May 16, 2021. All the six contestants from Xiangtan University (XTU) won 6 awards, including 1 first prize, 4 second prizes, and 1 third prize.

The competitions were divided into mathematics professional and non-mathematics professional groups. The finalists were selected from regional preliminaries. There were 15 contestants in Hunan sub-contest area. XTU students took the lead in regional selection competition, and 6 students were qualified for the national finals. Five of them are from the Shaofeng Class of Mathematics and 1 from the College of Civil Engineering and Mechanics.

Wang Teng won the national first prize; Xu Hang, Meng Chao, Qian Sijie, and Wang Lixia the second prize; and, Li Jianglai the third prize. Their instructors were Wang Wenqiang, Zhou Guangming, Li Chengfu, and Zhang Bicheng.

Since 2016, students from the XTU Shaofeng Class of Mathematics have won 1 national first prize, 7 second prizes, and 2 third prizes in theCMCmathematics professional group, demonstrating XTU’s effectiveness in cultivating top-notch talents in mathematics. The non-mathematics professional group won 3 first prizes and 1 third prize nationwide, which fully shows the remarkable results of XTU’s public mathematics teaching reform.
