Xiangtan University (XTU) Participates in the Online “Virtual Exchange” Activity for Teenagers in Friendship Cities of China and Japan

Invited by The Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, and Office of Foreign Affairs Commission of Hunan Provincial Committee, Xiangtan University (XTU) performed online “virtual exchange” with Shikoku University, which is from Tokushima-ken, a friendship city in Japan on the afternoon of August 30.

The topic of the visit is “Share Future with Friendly Cities”. Guo Xiangli, full-time vice chairman of Hunan Provincial People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries; Chen Xiaomin, secretary-general of the Association and director of the Association’s Office; Koichi Kato,  vice minister of Future Innovative Culture, Tokushima-ken, Japan; Hiroyuki Yamada, director of Shanghai Affairs Office, Tokushima-ken, Japan; Takashi Enomoto, section chief, Taro Iwaki, project leader, both of whom are from Department of International Courses Design, Shikoku University; Xu Hong, associate professor of Japanese, XTU; teachers from Office of International Exchange, XTU and nine students from two universities attended the online meeting.  

Students from the two universities introduced the distinctive cultures, scenic spots, local cuisines and campus life by PPT and Vlog respectively, which helped them understand local customs of each other better. They also communicated by asking questions and expressed their hopes for offline visits after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Teenagers in this activity were full of energy and enthusiasm, and they’ve passed on the friendship between China and Japan. Meanwhile, the visit enhanced the communication and cooperation between Shikoku University and XTU, and opened up new approaches to international communication work under the epidemic.
