On September 14, Xiangtan University organized a themed event under the Understanding China series for international students. More than 60 students from around the world visited Wushi Town in Xiangtan City to learn about the life and achievements of Marshal Peng Dehuai, observe China’s rural revitalization efforts, and celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival by making mooncakes together with local villagers.

In the early morning, the students paid respect to the bronze statue of Marshal Peng Dehuai. They also visited the Peng Dehuai Memorial Hall and his former residence. Listening attentively to the commentator’s introduction and viewing abundant historical documents and physical exhibits, students acquired a deeper insight into China’s revolutionary history.

At Thirty-six Workshops in Wushi Town, the students observed the achievements of rural revitalization. As a cultural district, Thirty-six Workshops has become an important showcase of local culture and economic development through a series of renovations and innovations. The students spoke highly of Wushi Town’s strategy of promoting rural economic growth through the preservation of traditional culture.
