Ugandan Educators Visit Xiangtan University for Exchange Activities

On the morning of May 16, a delegation of educators from the Confucius Institute at Makerere University visited Xiangtan University. The exchange program was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and co-organized by Xiangtan University. The welcome ceremony was attended by John Kabumbuli, Director of the Student Affairs Department at Makerere University, Liu Jingang, Vice President of Xiangtan University, as well as 16 Ugandan educators and relevant officials from Xiangtan University’s International Exchange Office.

During the symposium, Liu Jingang gave a detailed introduction to the university’s development history and disciplinary strengths. He stated that Xiangtan University attaches great importance to this exchange activity and has carefully prepared diverse and well-rounded programs. He expressed the hope that this visit would deepen mutual understanding in the educational field, explore new cooperation models, and jointly promote the development of education in China and Uganda.

John Kabumbuli noted that China and Uganda enjoy broad prospects for educational cooperation. He remarked that the delegation aimed to learn from China’s advanced educational experience to boost the development of Uganda’s education sector. He also looked forward to more in-depth and comprehensive cooperation between the two sides in educational exchanges and academic research.

Lasting for 10 days, the event consists of a rich variety of activities, including Chinese language courses, Sino-Ugandan educational and cultural exchanges, as well as field visits concerning Chinese history and culture. With these diverse and in-depth activities, delegation members can gain an all-round and immersive insight into authentic China and strengthen their understanding of the modern Chinese education system.

Taking the Confucius Institute at Makerere University as a bond, Xiangtan University will actively explore innovative cooperation models. Through the joint development of Chinese language curricula, the sharing of teaching resources, and the joint training of teachers, the university will help Ugandan institutions build and optimize their Chinese language courses. The university will continuously advance the high-quality development of international Chinese language education and contribute its educational strength to building a China-Uganda community with a shared future.
