The Science Seminar of the Affordable Multiple Aperture Spectroscopy Explorer (AMASE) was held at Xiangtan University, lasting from May 22 to 23 . Nearly 30 domestic and foreign experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, the National Astronomical Observatories of China, Nanjing University, Xiamen University, the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, and the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics gathered at the university. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the project’s science requirements document, aiming to advance the scientific implementation of the AMASE mission.
As a critical meeting in the progress of the AMASE project, the seminar primarily focused on reviewing and finalizing the official science requirement documents. Participants exchanged updates on the project’s latest progress and the current status of the documents. In-depth academic discussions covered key scientific topics, including circumgalactic medium, star formation and stellar feedback, active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback and outflows, as well as the testing and calibration of photoionization and shock wave models. The experts jointly evaluated the scientific feasibility and future development directions of the AMASE project.

Xiangtan University hosts the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Stars and Interstellar Matter, which has achieved internationally recognized research outcomes in the field of interstellar medium. The holding of this seminar offers a valuable opportunity for the university’s research teams to participate in international scientific projects, thereby injecting strong momentum into the development of physics and astronomy disciplines at Xiangtan University.
