Lesotho Ambassador to China Visits Xiangtan University

On June 15, H.E. Mr. Kenneth Sentle Rabale, Ambassador of Lesotho to China, paid a friendly visit to Xiangtan University. He held a discussion with President Liao Yong’an and Vice President Liu Jingang, conducting in-depth discussions on educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Lesotho.

Liao Yong’an gave a detailed introduction to the university’s development history and disciplinary strengths, especially its proactive exploration in education and people-to-people exchanges with African countries. He noted that the China-Africa Research Institute of Xiangtan University has achieved remarkable progress, serving as an important platform for China-Africa academic exchanges and talent cultivation and making positive contributions to the advancement of China-Africa friendly relations.Kenneth Sentle Rabale spoke highly of the reception work for the delegation led by Mpotjoana Lejone, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho, duringthe Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. He fully recognized Xiangtan University’s outstanding achievements in talent training and academic research, and expressed the hope of carrying out all-round educational exchanges and cooperation with the university.The Ambassador pointed out that Lesotho is facing a shortage of professionals urgently needed for its industrialization drive, and stood ready to conduct further dialogue and cooperation on sending Lesotho students to pursue academic degrees in engineering disciplines such as mechanical engineering at Xiangtan University.

From June 10 to 13, Mpotjoana Lejone, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho, led a nine-member delegation consisting of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Business Development, and the Embassy of Lesotho in China to visit Hunan. The delegation attended the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo. During the event, Xiangtan University undertook the full reception work and provided thoughtful and meticulous services, earning high praise from the Lesotho delegation.
