Xiangtan University Holds Talks with Delegation from Zambia’s Ministry of Education

On the afternoon of August 20, Liu Jingang, Vice President of Xiangtan University, met with a seven-member delegation led by Kelvin Mambwe, Permanent Secretary (Deputy Minister) of the Ministry of Education of Zambia, in Beijing. The two sides held in-depth discussions on conducting extensive exchanges and cooperation between Xiangtan University and Zambian universities, and jointly building an exemplary model for China-Africa educational cooperation.

Liu Jingang remarked that Zambia is a shining pearl on the African continent. Education has always served as a bridge linking the Chinese and Zambian people, as well as the most solid and enduring bond for enhancing bilateral friendship.Xiangtan University boasts a complete range of disciplines and distinctive research strengths, enjoying remarkable advantages especially in engineering technology, new materials, information technology, law, public administration and other fields. Taking this meeting as an opportunity, the university stands ready to carry out targeted collaboration and complementary cooperation with Zambian universities, jointly cultivate high-level talents serving Zambia’s national development strategy, and work together to forge a new model of exemplary China-Africa educational cooperation.

Kelvin Mambwe expressed gratitude for the university’s warm reception. He spoke highly of the time-honored traditional friendship between China and Zambia, noting that cooperation between Xiangtan University and Zambian universities serves as an important link to carry forward the history of bilateral friendly relations and deepen people-to-people connectivity.The Ministry of Education of Zambia will fully support in-depth cooperation between Xiangtan University and Zambian institutions in talent training, scientific research collaboration, faculty and student exchanges. It looks forward to the early delivery of a batch of landmark achievements that will bring greater benefits to the people of both countries.

This meeting marks an important move for the university to implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and serve the Belt and Road Initiative. It also symbolizes a new step forward in the university’s educational cooperation with African countries.
