Xiangtan University’s Computer Science Enters ESI Global Top 1%

Recently, according to the latest data released by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database, the discipline of Computer Science of Xiangtan University has entered the top 1% of ESI global rankings for the first time. Computer Science has become the 5th discipline of our university to rank among the top 1% of ESI disciplines worldwide.

Disciplines ranked in the top 1%ofESI are generally recognized as internationally high-level disciplines. The inclusion of the Computer Science discipline in the ESI global top 1% marks the continuous improvement of the university’s international academic influence. The other 4 disciplines of our university that have entered the ESI global top 1% are Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.

The Computer Science discipline of our university has a history of nearly 50 years. The School of Computer Science takes high-level research achievements as the core criterion for performance appraisal, postgraduate enrollment quota allocation, and professional title evaluation. At present, it hostsonenational-level research platform andfiveministerial- or provincial-level platforms. Adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the Computer Science discipline has established and improved the ideological and political education system for postgraduate students, built a sound academic research atmosphere, and earned an excellent reputation for its graduates in the industry. Over the pastfiveyears, it hastrained215 doctoral and master’s students, wonsevenawards for Hunan Provincial Excellent Master’s Degree Theses, publishedfiveprovincial and ministerial-level planning textbooks, developedoneNational Excellent Course andtwoProvincial Excellent Courses, and receivedfourHunan Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards. In the pastthreeyears,its faculty and researchers have published more than 30 papers in CCF Class A journals and conferences, and wonthreesecondprizes of the Hunan Provincial Natural Science Award.
