On May 24, a delegation led by Marie-Pierre Baylocq Sassoubre, Director of the French Language Teaching Center at the University of Tours, France, visited Xiangtan Universityfor exchange talks.

The representativefrom theInternational ExchangeSchool ofXiangtan University introducedthe university’shistory, educational achievements, andinternational exchanges and partnerships. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, as well as the 50th anniversary of the reopening of Xiangtan University. At this significant moment, the two universities reached consensus on deepening cooperation in areas such as student exchange and faculty visits, which is of far-reaching importance.
Marie-Pierre Baylocq Sassoubre presented an overview of the French Language Teaching Center at the University of Tours, and spoke highly of Xiangtan University students who had participated in exchange programs at the University of Tours. She noted that students from Xiangtan University were diligent, motivated, and serious in their studies. She expressed the hope that this visit would help build closer and friendlier ties between the two institutions, and that both sides would send more students and teachers to each other’s universities for exchange and study, thereby promoting the internationalization of education and talent cultivation.
Duringthe symposium, the two sides had in-depth discussions on the main directions and priorities of future cooperation, and reached consensus on strengthening exchanges between students and faculty. Both sides expressed the hope that through closer cooperation and exchange, they would jointly advance the internationalization of education, cultivate more innovative talents with global vision, and contribute to cultural exchanges between China and France.
In 2014, Xiangtan University signed theCooperation Agreement between Xiangtan University, China and the University of Tours, France, and theStudent Exchange Cooperation Agreement between Xiangtan University, Hunan, China and the University of Tours François Rabelais, France, enabling student exchanges between the two institutions. To date, Xiangtan University has sent 45 students to study at the University of Tours, and another 5 students will depart for exchange studies at the University of Tours this autumn.
