From August 23 to 27, the 9th Chinese-Russian “Yangtze-Volga” Youth Forum was held in Saratov, Russia. Young faculty members and students from Xiangtan University took an active part in the event, engaging in in-depth exchanges with Russian youth through artistic performances, graffiti art, a friendly basketball match, and other activities. Their participation showcased the vitality of Xiangtan University youth and contributed to the friendship between Chinese and Russian young people.

The Xiangtan University delegation consisted of one young teacher and five students. Chen Sihan, a student majoring in Animation and Game Design at theArtCollege, took part in the graffiti activity themed “The Great River of Friendship.” Together with more than 30 young graffiti artists from China and Russia, she created a large graffiti work along the Volga River, depicting the beautiful scenery along the Yangtze River and the Volga River.
“It is a great honor to represent Hunan Province to paint the magnificent rivers and mountains of my hometown in a foreign country, which mademe extremely proud. Meanwhile, I received help from young Russian artists during the creation of this graffiti work, which made me truly feel the mutual respect, friendly exchanges, and shared growth between Chinese and Russian youth. I believe this experience will become a beautiful memory for all of us.” Chen Sihan said.

During the China Day event, a song-and-dance short drama titled “As Promised by Time,” performed by Xiangtan University faculty members and students, resonated strongly with young people from both countries. Its skillful arrangement and vivid performance won rounds of applause from the audience. After watching the performance, Kristina, a Russian participant, said, “I really liked the performance. It was not only about the friendship between Chinese and Russian youth, but also incorporated Russian music and dance, which made it feel very familiar and touching to me.”
During other activities such as visiting Victory Park and touring the Volga River, our university’s young teachers and students activelyjoinedexchanges, learnedmoreabout Russian history, and introduced the construction and development history of Xiangtan University to Russian youth. Sincere communication and in-depth understanding helped the youth of the two countries build a profound friendship.

The Chinese-RussianYangtze-Volga Youth Forum is an important people-to-people exchange program under the framework of the Chinese-RussianYangtze-Volga regional cooperation mechanism, and is hosted alternately by the two sides. In 2019, a delegation from the 6th China-Russia Yangtze-Volga Youth Forum visited Xiangtan University. This time, Xiangtan University faculty members and students traveled to Russia to communicate with Russian youth, enhance mutual understanding, carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Russia, and fully demonstrate the spirit of XTU youth.
