Zheng Zhiming is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an expert in the field of mathematics and information. He has long been engaged in research on power systems, new generation cryptography, key technologies and equipment of high-performance aerospace cryptography, artificial intelligence and complex information systems. He used to be vice president of Beihang University, vice dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of Peking University, and deputy provost of Peking University.
He is now director of the State Key Laboratory of Software Development Environment, director of the Key Laboratory of “Mathematics, Information, and Behavior” of the Ministry of Education, dean of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of Beihang University, and director of the Teaching Steering Committee of Higher Education, Ministry of Education. He also serves as editor-in-chief of the Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) of Springer-Birkhauser and the Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering (MBE) of the American Institute of Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).
He has been an expert in nearly ten major national plans, major special projects, and major projects; published more than 140 academic papers; authorized more than 30 national invention patents; made more than 60 national defense technology reports; and, published 2 monographs.
He once won the first prize of National Technology Invention Awards, the first prize of Natural Science Awards of the Ministry of Education, the first prize of National Defense Technology Invention Awards, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Awards as the first author. He also won the National Teaching Achievement Special Awards and the second prize in teaching and talents cultivation. He used to be awarded by NASA for his contribution to dark matter data processing.
